ST. CLOUD, Fla. — A St. Cloud High School student was arrested Thursday after attacking a school resource officer attempting to break up a fight, according to the St. Cloud Police Department.
The 15-year-old student is facing charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest after grabbing Officer Russell Ball “around the torso,” with the two eventually struggling on the ground, Sgt. Wayne Souza said in a statement.
“With the assistance of bystanders the student was able to be brought under control,” the statement added. The student was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center in Orlando for processing.
The students who were fighting, both age 14, were not arrested at the time, but Souza said similar charges “will be filed to the State Attorney’s Office.” No injuries were reported.
Ball has been assigned to St. Cloud High for 12 years, according to the school’s website.
No other details were released.
