The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is sad to report that a fatal pedestrian accident occurred at around 11 P.M. on Friday, March 22 in Laughlin. The incident reportedly happened on Needles Highway when a 2013 Chevrolet Volt was headed northbound, and the victim was sitting in the travel lane.
As the vehicle drove along the road, they noticed the pedestrian. The driver of the car attempted to swerve to avoid the 24-year-old, but they were unable to do so. The victim was struck by the right front end of the car, and she was launched onto the unpaved roadside.
Panicked, the driver rushed to check on the victim and called the appropriate authorities. Emergency medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The driver remained at the crash scene until the police arrived. Authorities say the driver did not show any signs of impairment or wrongdoing.
Police later identified the victim as Serena Garcia.
Tragically, this recent fatality is the 44th traffic-related death that occurred in the jurisdiction this year. Right now, the crash remains under investigation.
