Most of the time, a cop’s workday isn’t exactly filled with uplifting experiences. Rarely do citizens request a police officer just to show them something inspirational or encouraging. But recently, a group of hard-charging guardians in King County, Washington, got to be the exception.
In late January, a Make a Wish event was coordinated through the North Sound Metro SWAT team, which recruited the King County Sheriff’s Office TAC-30 (SWAT) and Snohomish County SWAT to make a little boy’s birthday wishes come true.
Seven-year-old Cameron, who is currently battling leukemia, got to celebrate his special day with his heroes in blue. Along with a tour of more cool gear than a boy could possibly imagine, he was treated to a birthday cake — in the back of a BearCat.
In an era of video games, streaming services and easy chairs, not a lot of 7-year-olds would opt to spend their birthday in the mud and rain. Washington-area law enforcement might have a future recruit in their midst.
APB joins our brothers in Washington in wishing Cameron a happy birthday and the best of luck in the fight he’s waging.
