Goodwin’s employment roller coaster kicked off 2023 with layoffs followed immediately with a big ticket lateral haul and then more “performance review” cuts. If you’re wondering about the current status of the layoff yo-yo, good luck! Because Fishbowl posts about layoffs keep disappearing.
Fishbowl offers insiders an opportunity to post their tips and insights about a workplace for without much filter. It provides a nice impression of a company when taken with the appropriate grain of salt. If you know enough to navigate the nuanced difference between accepting an anonymous tip saying a firm is a sweatshop and “what does it say about the culture that someone perceives it as a sweatshop?” then Fishbowl can be a useful resource.
When attorneys get laid off, the first place they should go is, of course, the Above the Law tips line. But they also go to Fishbowl where they can expand on their personal experience for the benefit of prospective employees.
So it’s a little weird that Goodwin posts keep disappearing:
“Reason:other” doesn’t breed a lot of confidence in the moderation. While the original post is missing, there’s no indication that it breached any of the community guidelines, which claim that the platform will “Welcome Positive & Negative Content” while barring content that is abusive or threatening. The guidelines allow posts to be taken down for “misinformation” though there’s no indication that the post fits that bill.
Another layoff post appears to have disappeared that used the word “damn” though not in any kind of threatening manner. That might be an overactive moderation bot.

What gives over at Fishbowl? Would Fishbowl consider layoff posts as “misinformation” if the firm cast the terminations as “performance-related” or something? It would be fairly aggressive moderation to pass judgment on whether or not someone describing their own termination amounted to a stealth layoff.
If that was the source of the problem, the moderators seem to have decided it was an unwinnable game of whack-a-mole because several posts referencing Goodwin layoffs from this week are now up. For example:
