MILFORD, Conn. — An officer was attacked and his cruiser damaged while attempting to intervene in a street takeover, the Hartford Courant reported.
Body camera video shows the officer being surrounded by a crowd of more than 100 spectators after arriving at the scene. Spectators refused to back away and rammed the officer with a grocery cart.
The officer then tried to apprehend one suspect, who fled from him. Video shows the officer chasing the suspect, as other members of the crowd follow. His body camera then falls to the ground capturing only audio.
The crowd then punched the officer and threw objects at him, according to the report. People in the crowd also shot fireworks at the cruiser, causing damage
The officer was taken to the hospital after sustaining minor injuries in the attack.
