The New York civil fraud trial against Donald Trump, his oldest children, and the Trump organization is in full swing. Partial summary judgment has already been issued in the bench trial, so we already have a pretty good sense of how this is about to go down (not well for Trump, et al). But unlike other legal morasses the 45th president has been involved with, he’s decided to grace the courtroom with his presence.
That means the image of Trump in the courtroom has captured public imagination.
The former president shared a screenshot of some fan art — a dubious phrase in the context of politics rather than say, science fantasy — on his Truth Social account. And… it’s a doozy.
I must have missed the gospel where Jesus is totally cool with ripping migrant children from their parents. And I guess we just skipped the “grab them by the pussy” beatitude in CCD class. I guess pardoning war criminals is in the scripture according to the Donald.
As a reminder, the fraud trial is about the lies Trump told (there’s a commandment about that) in order to get richer (something else Jesus is distinctly against, unless you think camels going through the eye of a needle is pretty commonplace). If you’ve actually read the Bible it’s clear what Jesus — even white Jesus — would think about that.
