At around 4 P.M. on April 5, authorities were called out to a residence after hearing reports of a car accident. When they arrived, they were shocked to find an SUV had crashed directly into the home. Authorities discovered two individuals, the driver and a passenger inside the SUV, with serious injuries.
The two individuals were both rushed out to a nearby hospital. While they both reportedly suffered critical injuries, they were both listed as in stable condition by the time the night was over.
According to initial police reports, the black SUV was seen speeding throughout the residential neighborhood before the crash happened. It remains unclear why the vehicle was going so fast, but it appears that the driver lost control and slammed into the residence.
An investigation into the situation is ongoing.
Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Car Accidents
Car accidents almost always result in a windfall of losses for everyone involved. There are usually injuries, property damage, and even other types of losses like lost wages. In Las Vegas, every driver is legally required to obtain car insurance to help them cover these financial losses in the event of a crash.
Unfortunately, these car insurance policies don’t always fully cover everyone’s losses.
The good news is that Nevada courtrooms operate on an at-fault basis, which means the driver who was at-fault for the accident will assume legal and financial responsibility for the fallout. If you suffer property damage, injuries, and other losses after a crash, then it’s in your best interests to learn who was at-fault.
In Nevada, speeding is considered a reckless driving tactic. Reckless driving is defined as a willful or wanton disregard of the safety of persons or property. Under the law, negligence is defined as a breach in a legal duty to provide for the safety and care of others, and reckless driving falls into this type of behavior.
If you ever suffer losses as a result of a reckless driver, then you might have legal recourse to seek out compensation for your losses. To learn more about your legal rights and options, it’s best to speak with a lawyer after your accident.
