Unfortunately for residents in Nevada, traffic deaths have been on the rise in both 2021 and 2022. More specifically, statistics show that there’s been a marked increase in fatal pedestrian and motorcycle accidents.
Sadly, yet another fatal pedestrian accident was confirmed by Metro Police on December 1st. Authorities say a 58-year-old resident of Las Vegas was walking along but outside of a marked crosswalk. That’s when a 44-year-old driver in a Nissan Altima struck the pedestrian.
The accident occurred on Las Vegas Boulevard by Washington Avenue. When police arrived, they took the pedestrian to the University Medical Center where they were later declared deceased. At the scene of the accident, initial investigations revealed that the driver did not appear intoxicated, and he did wait at the scene for police to arrive. No arrests were made, and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
How to Cope if Your Loved One Was Involved in a Fatal Pedestrian Accident
Have you recently lost a loved one in a fatal pedestrian accident? If so, then we first and foremost offer our sincerest condolences. It’s never easy to lose a loved one, and it’s only that much more debilitating when the loss is unexpected and untimely.
Unfortunately, losing your loved one could also cause a windfall of unexpected financial losses, too.
After your loved one passes, you might be surprised with unexpected medical bills, the costs of planning out a funeral, and other burial expenses. What’s more, you’ll lose the financial support of your loved one, which could mean the loss of spousal or parental support.
Depending on the situation, there’s a good chance that you can seek out financial recourse for these losses (and others) by seeking out what’s called a wrongful death lawsuit. A wrongful death lawsuit is possible when someone else’s negligence caused the wrongful death. In most pedestrian accidents, the driver is considered at-fault for the accident. To determine whether your loved one’s accident contains the factors necessary to seek out a lawsuit, it’s best to consult with a lawyer.
If your claim is successful, then the at-fault driver (or their insurance provider) will be responsible for paying you for the losses you endure.
Are You Considering Taking Legal Action?
Have you lost a loved one as a result of the negligence of someone else? Pedestrian accidents aren’t the only cause for wrongful death claims. Loved ones can also seek out this type of claim after medical accidents, products that cause a death, or accidents that happen at a business or workplace.
If your financial losses are stacking up as a result of losing your loved one, then it might be worth your time to consider seeking out a wrongful death claim. This type of claim can help you get the financial help you deserve so that you can focus on what’s important – grieving and healing from your loss.
