A suspect charged with ethnic intimidation for yelling slurs outside a historic Michigan synagogue showed his disdain for the judge in an unrelated case during an online hearing Tuesday.
Hassan Yehia Chokr, 35, of Dearborn, Michigan, flipped the bird, turned around and mooned the camera, the Detroit Free Press reports.
“And now he has removed his pants to show the court his backside,” said Judge Regina Thomas of Wayne County, Michigan.
“I’m putting him in a waiting room,” she said as she cut off his video.
“I don’t know why anyone would think that is appropriate for them to pull their pants down and show the court their behind,” Thomas said.
Thomas said Chokr appears to be mentally ill and revoked his bond.
Chokr had made the video appearance in a case alleging that he assaulted and resisted a police officer in 2020. His audio was already turned off following a video court appearance Monday in the ethnic intimidation case in which he also raised his middle finger and made antisemitic remarks. His bond was set at $1 million in that case.
WXYZ and the Detroit News also had coverage of the incident.
